Die Mourne Berge (na Beanna Boirche) sind eine Gebirgskette im Süden der Grafschaft Down, die fast direkt ins Meer abfällt. Ihr höchster Gipfel, der Slieve Donard, ist mit 850 Metern auch der höchste Berg Nordirlands. Die Berge und die Täler dazwischen sind bei Wanderern und Kletterern sehr beliebt. Von hier aus wird auch die Stadt Belfast mit Wasser versorgt.
Den besten Blick auf die Gesamtheit der Berge haben wir vom anderen Ufer von Carlingford Lough aus, wodurch am Bild aber leider die Details verloren gehen.
The Mountains of Mourne (na Beanna Boirche) are a mountain chain in the south of County Down that almost directly drops into the sea. Its highest peak, the Slieve Donard, is with 850 metres also the highest mountain of Northern Ireland. The mountains and the valley in-between are favoured by hikers and climbers. Here are also the water supplies for the city of Belfast.
The best view over the wholeness of the mountains we have from the other side of Carlingford Lough, which alas causes a lack of details on the photos.
