Der Vorort von Galway wandelte sich ab dem 19. Jahrhundert vom einfachen Dorf zum beliebten Seebad. Ab den 1950ern wurde es als Kurort immer populärer und ist es bis heute geblieben. Erholungssuchende können die Sandstrände für Wassersport oder Angeln benutzen, oder aber auch das Kasino, die Pubs, Discos oder den Freizeitpark besuchen.
Oder man kann die salzige Meeresluft an der Promenade genießen und am Meer entlang gehen, beim berühmten Stadtviertel Claddagh vorbei, am Southpark vorbei, bis zur Hafen an der Mündung des Corrib in die Galway Bay.
Since the 19th century the suburb of Galway changed from a rural village to a popular sea bath. The popularity as resort increased since the 1950s and remains till today. Those seeking recreation can use the sandy beaches for water sports or angling, or visit the casino, the pubs, discos or the leisure land.
Or they can inhale the salty sea air on the promenade and walk along the sea boarder, past the famous village Claddagh, past Southpark, until they reach the harbour at the mouth of the Corrib into Galway Bay.
