Ballinalackan Burg / Ballinalackan Castle

Wir fahren die Küstenstraße um Slieve Elva herum, als wir kurz vor Lisdoonvarna (Lios Dúin Bhearna) die Überreste der Burg Ballinalackan (Baile na Leacan - Ort der Steinplatten) auf einer Anhöhe stehen sehen.
Die Fundamente sollen bereits im 10. Jahrhundert vom O'Connor Clan gelegt worden sein. Die Burg wurde dann im 14. Jahrhundert errichtet. Im 16. Jahrhundert ging der Besitz auf den O'Brien Clan über. Das 1840 erbaute Wohnhaus der O'Briens wurde später zum Ballinalacken Castle Hotel umgebaut.
We drive on the coast road around Slieve Elva, when shortly before Lisdoonvarna (Lios Dúin Bhearna) we see the remains of Ballinalackan Castle (Baile na Leacan - place of the flagstones) on a hill. The basements of the castle possible have been laid already in the 10th century by the O'Connor clan.
The castle was then built in the 14th century. In the 16th century ownership was transferred to the O'Brien clan. The residential house of the O'Briens built in 1840 was later refurbished to Ballinalacken Castle Hotel.
