Der Bau der Kirche zum Hl. Patrick begann 1832, um die alte Brickfield Kapelle zu ersetzen. Die erste Messe wurde 1836 zelebriert, lange bevor das Gebäude fertiggestellt war. Durch eine großzügige Spende der Familie Honan konnte die Kirche in den 1890ern vergrößert werden. Ursprünglich als Tochterkirche der Kathedrale erbaut, ist St. Patrick seit 1848 eine eigene Pfarrgemeinde.

The construction of St. Patrick's Church started in 1832 to replace the old Brickfield Chapel. The first mass was celebrated long before the build was completed. A generous donation by the Honan family made it possible to enlarge the church in the 1890s. originally a chapel of ease for the cathedral, St. Patrick was constituted as an independent parish in 1848.
