Das Gerichtsgebäude von Monaghan wurde im neuklassizistischem Stil gebaut und 1829 fertig gestellt. Im Irischen Bürgerkrieg (1921 - 1923) wurde das Gebäude beschädigt, bei einem verheerendes Feuer brannte es 1981 völlig aus. 2011 wurde das Gerichtsgebäude vollständig wiederhergestellt - inklusive dem britisch königlichen Wappen auf dem Giebel zur Erinnerung daran, dass das Gerichtssystem im 19. Jahrhundert die Belange der Krone vertrat.
The Courthouse of Monaghan was built in neoclassical style and finished in 1829. During the Irish Civil War (1921- 1923) the building was damaged, in 1981 a devastating fire completely burned it out. In 2011 the Courthouse was fully restored - including the British royal coat-of-arms on the gable to remind that the justice system in the 19th century was an agent of the Crown.
