Dawson Monument, Bank of Ireland

Das Dawson Monument erinnert an den 1854 im Krimkrieg gefallenen Colonel Dawson. Drei Jahre später wurde ihm dieses Denkmal gesetzt.

Das Gebäude auf dem Foto gleich rechts daneben wurde 1875 als Filiale der Hibernian Bank (heute: Bank of Ireland) gebaut. Dabei wurde der hiberno-romanische Stil gewählt, der für Kirchengebäude vom 10. bis zum 12. Jahrhundert verwendet wurde.

The Dawson Monument commemorates Colonel Dawson, who fell during the Crimean War in 1854. Three years later this memorial was erected for him.

The building on the picture to the right was built in 1875 as a branch office for the Hibernian Bank (today: Bank of Ireland). For it the Hiberno-Romanesque style was chosen that was used for church buildings from the 10th to the 12th century.
