Midleton

Im späten 12. Jahrhundert wurde am Fluss Owennacurra ein Zisterzienser Kloster gegründet. Die daneben liegende Ansiedlung wuchs zur Stadt Midleton (Mainistir na Corann, Kloster am Wehr), die 1670 zur Marktstadt erhoben wurde. Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts wurde eine Markhalle gebaut, die dann später als Stadthalle und heute als Stadtbibliothek dient.

In the late 12^th century a Cisterciansian monastery was founded along the Owennacurra River. The near-by settlement grew into the town of Midleton (Mainistir na Corann, monastery at the weir) that got its charter as a market town in 1670. At the end of the 18^th century a market hall was built that later served as town hall and today as library.
