Kindred Spirits

In der Burg von Donegal haben wir zum ersten Mal von der Geschichte der Choctaw Nation gehört, nordamerikanische Indianer die Not am eigenen Leib erfahren mussten und deshalb für die Iren während der großen Hungersnot 1845 - 1847 Geld sammelten. Zum Andenken an die selbstlose Hilfsbereitsschaft eines Volkes, das selbst kaum etwas besaß, wurde in Midleton (Mainistir na Corann, Kloster am Wehr) die Skulptur "Kindred Spirits" (Verwandte Seelen) errichtet, die neun Federn aus rostfreiem Stahl darstellt.
In Donegal Castle we learned the first time about the story of the Choctaw Nation, North-American Indians who had suffered themselves and therefore collected money for the Irish people during the Great Famine 1845 - 1847. As a tribute to the selfless readiness to help others by people who themselves had only little, the sculpture "Kindred Spirits", symbolizing nine stainless steel feathers, was erected in Midleton (Mainistir na Corann, monastery at the weir).
