Kirche zum Hl. Multose / St. Multose Church

Der Hl. Multose (mo-Elte-og, mein kleiner Eltin) gründete im 6. Jahrhundert ein Kloster, um das die Stadt Kinsale entstand. In den 1190ern wurde diese Kirche gebaut und nach dem Heiligen benannt. Im 16. Jahrhundert wurde die Kirche nicht wie viele andere katholische Kirchen geschlossen, sondern von den Church of Ireland übernommen. Sie ist damit eine der ältesten durchgängig in Verwendung stehenden Kirchen in Irland, wobei durch mehrere Umbauten vom Normannischen Gebäude hauptsächlich der Glockenturn erhalten geblieben ist. Am Friedhof um die Kirche finden wir Gräber von Opfern der Lusitania Katastrophe.
St. Multose (mo-Elte-og, my little Eltin) founded a monastery in the 6th century around which the town of Kinsale developed. In the 1190s this church was built and named after the saint. In the 16th century the church was not like many other Catholic churches closed but taken over by the Church of Ireland. It is therefore one of the oldest churches in Ireland that has been constantly in operation, although due to several reconstructions mainly the clocktower is left of the Normanic building. On the cemetary of the church we find graves of victims of the Lusitania catastrophe.
