Bantry Bay (Cuan Baoi) war zweimal Ziel der Französischen Flotte: 1689 kam die Flotte um dem verbannten Jakob II. zu helfen - und wurde zurückgeschlagen. 1796 wollten die Franzosen dem irischen Revolutionär Theobald Wolf Tone bei seinem Versuch Irland von England zu lösen beistehen - diesmal vereitelte ein Sturm den Erfolg.
Bantry Bay (Cuan Baoi) was twice the target of the French fleet: In 1689 the fleet came to help the exiled James II. - and was repulsed. In 1796 the French wanted to aid the Irish revolutionary Theobald Wolf Tone in his attempt to free Ireland from England - this time a storm foiled their success.
