Castlelyons Kloster / Castlelyons Friary

Das Kloster von Castlelyons (Caisleán Ó Liatháin, Burg im Königreich Uí Liatháin) wurde zu Beginn des 14. Jahrhunderts vom Karmeliter Orden gegründet. Im 15. und 16. Jahrhundert wurde das Kloster erweitert, die heute erhaltenen Ruinen sind aus dieser Zeit. Unter Heinrich VIII. wurde das Kloster 1541 geschlossen. In der Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts wurde es für kurze Zeit noch einmal als Kloster verwendet, diesmal vom Dominikaner Orden.
The friary of Castlelyons (Caisleán Ó Liatháin, castle in the kingdom Uí Liatháin) was founded at the beginning of the 14th century by the Carmelite Order. It was extended in the 15th and 16th century, the still existing ruins date from that time. The friary was dissolved in 1541 under Henry VIII. In the middle of the 18th century it was again used as a monastery for a short period, this time by the Dominican Order.
