Kildare Nationalgestuet und Gaerten / Kildare National Stud and Gardens
1900 gründete Oberst William Hall Walker (ein Liebhaber schneller Pferde) in Kildare (Cill Dara) ein Gestüt mit dem Namen Tully Stud und richtete sich bei der Aufzucht streng nach astrologischen Gesichtspunkten. Ob es nun wirklich an den Sternen lag, ist unklar, aber seine Pferde gewannen bald wichtige Rennen und machten das Tully Stud zu einem erfolgreichen Unternehmen. 1915 übergab Walker das Gestüt an die Krone und es wurde nach der Unabhängigkeit der Republik das Irische National-Gestüt. Ein Grund des Erfolges soll die Kalksteinebene (The Curragh) sein, deren Gras wichtige Aufbaustoffe für die Knochen der Pferde liefert.
In 1900 Colonel William Hall Walker (a fan of fast horses) founded in Kildare (Cill Dara) a stud with the name Tully Stud and oriented the breeding strictly on astrological points-of-view. If it was really due to the stars is unclear, but his horses soon won important races and made Tully Stud a successful business. In 1915 Walker handed the stud over to the Crown and it became the Irish National Stud after the independence of the republic had been established. One of the reasons for the success is said to be the limestone plain (The Curragh) with its grass containing minerals that are important for the building of the bones of the horses.
