Ramore erhielt seinen Namen von "Rathmore", das Große Fort, das hier einst stand. Die lokalen Mythen erzählen, dass die Bewohner des Forts Schiffe an das Ufer lockten, um dann die Ladung der Schiffswracks zu plündern. Die Steine des bereits verfallenen Forts wurden im 19. Jahrhundert verwendet, um den Hafen und Häuser zu bauen.
Ramore got its name from "Rathmore", the Great Fort, that once stood here. The local myths tell that the inhabitants of the fort lured ships onto the shore and then pillaged the cargo of the shipwrecks. The stones of the already ruined fort were used in the 19th century to build the harbour and houses.
