Vom Hotel, in dem wir nächtigen, bis zum Hafen Porthandu (port an dhub, dunkler Hafen) liegt ein kleiner Park, die Antrim Gärten. Bei Grabungen wurden hier Feuersteine aus der Mittelsteinzeit (8000 - 4000 v. Chr.) gefunden, die zu den ältesten in Irland gefundenen Besiedelungsspuren gehören. Aber auch eine mittelalterliche Klostersiedlung wurde freigelegt.

Die rote Skulptur in der Mitte des Gartens besteht aus Ziegelsteinen und Keramik. Auf ihr sind Reliefs eingraviert, die wichtige Ereignisse in der Geschichte von Portrush darstellen.

From the hotel, where we stay overnight, to the harbour called Porthandu (port an dhub, dark landing place) lies a small park called Antrim Gardens. During excavations of this spot flints from the Mesolithic period (8000 - 6000 B.C.) were found, belonging to the oldest traces of settlement in Ireland. But also a Mediaeval monastic settlement was uncovered.

The red sculpture in the middle of the gardens consists of bricks and ceramics. Its graved reliefs depict important events from the history of Portrush.
