Cork
Nationales Denkmal / National Monument
The list of rebellions the Irish started to shake off the British rulership is long. Only the War of Independence (1919 - 1922) gave the greater part of the isle its autonomy. The National Monument commemmorates those men who at least have tried: Wolfe Tone, Michael Dwyer, Thomas Davis and Peter O'Neill Crowley. In the middle, Mother Erin watches over her children.
