Mehr noch als Orangen und exotische Bäume wurde im Viktorianischen Zeitalter alles gesammelt, was mit Farnen zu tun hatte - die Pteridomanie, auch Farnfieber genannt, war geboren. Arthur Hugh Smith Barry ließ daher in den 1880ern auch einen Farngarten anlegen. Und der Garten wirkt noch heute, als ob wir ein urzeitliches Märchenland betreten.
Even more than oranges or exotic trees in the Victorian Age everything was collected that was connected to ferns - the pteridomania, also called fern fever, was born.
