Baily Leuchtturm / Baily Lighthouse

Der erste Leuchtturm an dieser Stelle wurde im Jahre 1667 oben auf dem Howth erbaut. Jedoch wurde der Leuchtturm oft von Nebel verdeckt und so wurde ein neuer Leuchtturm weiter unten auf dem Little Baily erbaut, der 1814 in Betrieb ging. 1871 wurde ein Nebelhorn installiert, das später durch eine Sirene abgelöst wurde. 1972 wurde der Leuchtturm elektrifiziert, 1996 als letzter Irischer Leuchtturm automatisiert.
The first lighthouse on this place was built in 1667 up on the Howth. However, the lighthouse was often covered by fog and so a new lighthouse was built farther down on the Little Baily that went into operation in 1814. In 1871 a fog horn was installed that was later replaced by a siren. In 1972 the lighthouse was electrified, in 1996 it was automated as the last of all Irish lighttowers.
